The Iron Covenant.
These Terms of Service govern your use of the IronTasks platform. By accessing our forge, you agree to abide by these rules.

1. Acceptance of Terms
IronTasks ("we", "us", "our") provides a productivity application and related services (the "Service"). By accessing or using IronTasks via web, mobile, or API, you ("User") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.
2. Scope of Service & Data Responsibility
IronTasks operates primarily on a "Local-First" architecture. This fundamentally changes the nature of data responsibility compared to traditional SaaS.
Guest Mode (Local Storage)
In Guest Mode, all data is stored exclusively within your device's browser storage (IndexedDB). IronTasks has no access to this data and cannot recover it if it is lost. You are solely responsible for preventing data loss caused by clearing your browser cache, uninstalling the app, or device failure.
Iron Cloud (Sync)
If you choose to use our premium Sync services, we act as a data processor. While we implement industry-standard encryption, you acknowledge that no system is 100% immune to failure. We provide the sync service "as available" and do not guarantee 100% uptime.
3. Accounts & Encryption Keys
To access Iron Cloud features, you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials.
- You must provide accurate information during registration.
- You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
- The Iron Vault (Zero-Knowledge): If you enable the optional Iron Vault, your data is encrypted locally before reaching our servers. We do not possess your encryption keys. If you lose your password and your Master Recovery Key, your encrypted data is permanently unrecoverable. We cannot bypass this architecture.
4. Acceptable Use & Content Policy
You are the sole owner and controller of the data you create and upload to IronTasks. We act solely as a secure conduit. We do not proactively monitor or review your content.
However, you agree NOT to use IronTasks to store, process, or distribute:
- Illegal Content: Including but not limited to Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), terrorism-related content, or content promoting illegal acts.
- Infringing Material: Copyrighted, trademarked, or patented material without the express permission of the owner.
- Malware: Viruses, trojans, worms, or any malicious code intended to disrupt networks or devices.
Law Enforcement & Abuse
We comply with legitimate, legally-binding warrants from relevant authorities. In such events, we will hand over the data we possess: your account metadata (email, registration date) and your encrypted data blobs. If you use the Zero-Knowledge Iron Vault, we cannot decrypt these blobs for authorities.
Reporting Abuse: If you believe a user is violating this policy, report it to abuse@irontasks.io. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts reasonably suspected of violating these terms.
5. Billing, Cancellations & Refunds
Payment Processing
IronTasks uses Lemonsqueezy as our payment processor. We do not store your credit card information on our servers. By subscribing, you agree to Lemonsqueezy's terms of service and authorize us to charge your payment method for the selected subscription plan.
Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time via the "Billing" section in the App Settings. Upon cancellation, your Premium features (Iron Cloud sync, themes, storage) will remain active until the end of your current billing period. You will not be charged again.
Refund Policy
- 14-Day Money-Back Guarantee: If you are not satisfied with IronTasks Premium, you may request a full refund within 14 days of your initial purchase by contacting support@irontasks.io.
- Subsequent Renewals: Generally, we do not offer refunds for partial months or unused time on renewals. However, we review exceptional circumstances on a case-by-case basis.
6. Data Retention Policy
We adhere to data minimization principles. We do not keep data longer than necessary to provide the service.
- Active Accounts: As long as your account is active, your data is retained to allow seamless syncing.
- Lapsed Subscriptions (90-Day Grace Period): If your Premium subscription expires, your account downgrades to the Free Tier. We will securely hold your Iron Cloud data for a 90-day grace period. You may resubscribe within this window to restore access. If you do not resubscribe, your cloud files will be permanently deleted on day 91. Your local device data is unaffected.
- Account Deletion: If you execute a 'Delete Account' command within the app, your account metadata and all associated cloud files are immediately and permanently deleted from our servers.
7. Intellectual Property
Your Content: You retain full ownership of the tasks, notes, and data you create.
Our Property: The IronTasks interface, source code, graphics, "Iron Economy" mechanics, Talent Tree designs, and "Aspiration Path" text/lore are the exclusive property of IronTasks. You may not copy, reverse engineer, or resell our service.
8. Limitation of Liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
Financial Liability Cap: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, IronTasks' (including its developer, employees, and partners) total liability to you for any damages (regardless of the form of action) shall be limited to the greater of: (a) Fifty US Dollars ($50.00), or (b) the amount you paid IronTasks in the 12 months prior to the act that gave rise to the liability.
No Liability for Data Loss: You expressly understand and agree that IronTasks shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data, or other intangible losses resulting from: (i) the use or inability to use the service; (ii) unauthorized access to or alteration of your transmissions or data; (iii) lost encryption keys or device failure.
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time within the app settings. We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach the Terms or engage in illegal activities.
10. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of The Netherlands, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of The Netherlands.
